Course Description:


This 6 hour presentation highlights prosthetic options and the key components of preprosthetic and postprosthetic management of the upper limb amputee.
Participants will be guided through a prosthetic training protocol. Topics covered include: edema control, desensitization, mirror therapy, myosite testing and training, prepositioning/ proportional control of the terminal device, bimanual skills training and advanced technologies. The partnership between the therapist and prosthetist will be highlighted as
this is critical in providing a person with the most functional prosthesis. Therapists will participate in an interactive demonstration of myosite training and testing and hands on with Upper Limb Prosthetic components.

          Mastering the Basics

Interactive Lab:
          Myosite testing
          Myosite training
          Terminal device and rotator function
          Socket design
          TMR and Pattern Recognition
