Louisiana COVID numbers: Data on cases, deaths, hospitalizations, vaccines

Editor's Note: Due to changes in the Louisiana Department of Health's data page, there might be a delay in data updating on this page.

All data released by the state on the coronavirus pandemic can be found at the Louisiana Department of Health's data page at https://ldh.la.gov/Coronavirus/.

Since the first case in Louisiana was reported on March 9, 2020, The Advocate and Times-Picayune have been and are continuing to track cases across Louisiana. The first doses of the coronavirus vaccine were given Dec. 14, and the latest data on vaccinations will now be included here.

This page will be updated at noon on weekdays with the latest figures from LDH and information from government officials.

Note: The Advocate and The Times-Picayune staff calculates daily case count increases based on the difference between today's confirmed total and yesterday's total of confirmed coronavirus cases. The Louisiana Department of Health releases a daily case count that includes probable cases. That case count can be different than the one listed here.

Vaccinations by age

The vaccination drive has prioritized the elderly, who are at most risk of serious illness and death if they catch the coronavirus. Those over 70 make up of those who have received a dose of the vaccine, though younger age groups are getting vaccinated now that they are eligible.
